Ian McMillan

 

 

 

was born in 1956, and has been a freelance writer, performer and broadcaster since 1981.

He currently presents BBC Radio 3’s The Verb every Friday night and makes documentaries for BBC Radio 4.

His work includes poetry, some serious, some hilarious, and short stories. He also writes comedy series for radio, plays for radio and the stage, and columns for publications ranging from the Barnsley Chronicle to The New Statesman.

He loves to collaborate with other artists and is currently working with photographers, cartoonists and musicians.

In 1997 he was awarded the newly created post of;

 

The Bard of Barnsley FC.

 

Ian says that this is a Life Peerage, and entitles him to a seat in The House of Lards.
